The Rural Health West – WA Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) Staff and Student Awards recognise extraordinary service, research and achievement within WACRH and the communities that WACRH serve. Congratulation to all the recipients of these awards!
Staff Awards
Sarah Prickett, Lecturer (OT), has gone above and beyond creating placement and community opportunities to benefit students and community members with disabilities. Collaborating with other organisations to create school holiday and cricket programs in Mullewa, Yalgoo and Mount Magnet. She supports interprofessional education and is completing a Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education.
Kylie Bishop, Administration Officer, was instrumental in organising the fit-out of the Roebourne student accommodation, contributing to all stages of the project. She executed the work seamlessly on top of her critical administration role in the Pilbara. She developed resources on Teams allowing students to access information in a central repository and automated internal processes where possible.
Student Awards
Rachel Ryan, UWA Bachelor of Biomedical Science student, came to WACRH on a McCusker internship working on a podcast media strategy project. She was mature and professional in her approach, displaying a great organisational skills, initiative and independence.
Alyce Smith, UWA Master of Clinical Audiology student, returned to WACRH for a second placement to collaborate professionally to deliver much needed audiology services to children in Mullewa, Yalgoo and Mount Magnet in a culturally responsive manner.
Charli-Elizabeth Fidge and Corrinne Raponi, ECU Master of Nutrition and Dietetic students, were our first students to reside in our Roebourne student accommodation. They developed professional relationships working in a culturally safe manner with two local organisations, engaging with the community and contributing back to Roebourne.
Evy Tibeyan, CU Master of Social Work student, exemplified professional behaviours in her WACRH placement. She was instrumental in creating a valuable resource now being used various agencies in Geraldton. Her communications skills enabled her to build a strong rapport with young people.
