Research Fellow Dr Charmaine Green (academic staff) has been awarded the ‘Research’ category and Executive Assistant Luisa Stade (professional staff) awarded the ‘Up and Coming Staff’ category of the 2024 David Lyle Prize for Rural and Remote Health. The awards recognise their excellent service and positive contribution to the University Departments of Rural Health network and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Australian Rural Health Education Network (ARHEN) values and priorities.
Dr. Charmaine Green, a dedicated Yamaji Research Fellow, has been recognised for her outstanding contributions to Indigenous engagement, student mentorship, and rural community empowerment. Under her leadership, WACRH has significantly expanded its cultural learning initiatives, research collaborations, and Indigenous-led projects. She has played a pivotal role in mentoring Indigenous staff, securing grants for community-driven programs, and enhancing student cultural orientation through immersive experiences. As Chair of the ARHEN ATSISA Network, she has strengthened national collaboration and support for Indigenous staff. Luisa Stade has been recognised for her exceptional dedication to fostering collaboration within WACRH and ARHEN, supporting students and staff, and enhancing rural and remote health services. Her commitment to strengthening the UDRH network is evident in her seamless coordination of meetings, mentoring of colleagues, and efficient management of research activities and operational systems. Luisa plays a role in facilitating professional development for rural health practitioners. Her passion for community engagement is reflected in her coordination of outreach programs, cultural initiatives, and health promotion events. With her tireless efforts and deep care for those she supports, Luisa exemplifies the values of collaboration, inclusion, and service to rural and Indigenous communities.
