This year, our occupational therapy students on rural placement in Geraldton have been involved in outreach weekly visits to Yalgoo Primary School, focusing their work on improving student engagement in handwriting and reading, while building resilience and attention in the classroom.
In the mid-year school holidays, occupational therapy students Michael and Penny teamed up with the Shire of Yalgoo to deliver a week-long program full of fun activities! From crafting and sports at the rage cage to cricket, football, bush walks, and a visit to Jokers Tunnel, they created an unforgettable experience for the children.
Their hands-on involvement gave them valuable experience in planning activities, working with community stakeholders, and adapting to the needs of a small, rural community. We are proud of the positive impact they’ve made.
