Teaching on the Run workshops

TOTR is a staff development package aimed at improving teaching and supervision in a clinical setting and includes six foundation workshops which will be delivered by the Westren Australian Centre for Rural Health (WACRH). The program is designed to:
• Build up confidence in applying the principles of teaching adults in the everyday work situation
• Help clinical teachers plan for, and recognise opportunities for teaching in the clinical setting
• Help clinicians to provide effective feedback
• Provide strategies that support good supervision and learner support
• Build clinicians confidence in their ability as teachers
• Encourage sharing of ideas and networking among clinical teachers that can enhance their practice
Participants to the TOTR program should already have teaching experience; this program seeks to build on current teaching practice.

IPE Workshops

Two Interprofessional Education (IPE) workshops are also available.
Foundations of Interprofessional Education:
• Describe the principles of IPE
• Identify potential challenges and benefits to implementing IPE in your clinical setting
• Teach a multidisciplinary group
• Give effective feedback
• Analyse IPE research related to the principles and practice of IPE
• Facilitating Interprofessional Education in the Clinical Setting:
• Describe the roles, responsibilities and skills of an IPE facilitator
• Identify and discuss a range of IPE facilitation skills in practice
• Plan and implement an IPE session with a group of learners
• Develop confidence to facilitate and provide feedback in an IPE placement
