High Risk Foot – Training of Health Professionals to Assess the High Risk Foot.

WACRH obtained a Rural Health Continuing Education Grant for the High Risk Foot Project to deliver training workshops in rural and remote areas of WA to:

Increase awareness of high risk foot disease

Supply culturally appropriate diabetes foot care patient educational materials

Train health care professionals how to do a foot risk assessment

Supply health professionals with the necessary equipment to do a foot risk assessment

Provide ongoing High Risk Foot education

Media Toolkits

Background

Professionals working at all levels in the Aboriginal health sector and the media have a complex relationship. Advocates for Aboriginal health look for opportunities to mobilise the media in support of health-related political, economic, policy and welfare reform. However, their concern about the misrepresentation of Aboriginal affairs in the news continues to stifle their engagement.

Solid Kids, Solid Schools

This project collected Yamaji stories about childhood bullying through interviews and focus groups and identified ways to understand bullying in an Aboriginal context, as well as provide school staff, parents and family members with strategies and tools to manage, reduce and prevent bullying.
